Three photos together: the LNG site sign covered with graffiti, a coffee filled Examiner mug, and the Canadian flag beside the Mi'kmaq Grand Council flag.

Starting this week, we have new feature here at the Halifax Examiner. It’s called Weekend File.

Every week, the Examiner publishes plenty of articles from our reporters, plus new content in Morning Files. We know you’re busy and don’t have time to read all of them each day, so we’re putting the week’s work together in one file, so you can sit down and read them when you have time — maybe while relaxing on your patio with a beverage. We won’t judge.

Weekend File will be published each Saturday. The lineup will start with articles we published the previous Saturday. At the top of the file, there are handy-dandy links for each day of the previous week, so if you want to go to the articles from a particular day, just click the link to that day. Or you can scroll from top to bottom and see each article from Saturday to Friday.

To read any article, click on the headline and you’ll go straight there. Use your browser’s back button to get back to Weekend File (or right-click the headline, and select “open in new tab”. How cool is THAT?!)

On Saturdays we’ll send a Weekend File notification email to readers who already receive our weekday Morning File email. To sign up for both of the emails, go to the home page of our website and look for the form on the right-hand side.

  • If you already get the Morning File email each weekday morning, you don’t need to sign up for the new one.
  • If you don’t get either yet, and you want both the Morning File email AND the Weekend File email, please fill out the form.
  • To get just the Weekend File notification, email Iris.

If you have any questions about Weekend File, you can email Suzanne Rent or Iris to get answers.

If you’re not a subscriber already, click here to do that. If you don’t want to commit to a subscription, you can also make a one-time donation.

Thank you again for supporting Canadian journalism.

  1. The “weekend file” is an excellent adjunct to the Examiner. I just read the article on Tick’s and it was so well done and full of useful insight and info. Keep up the excellent work.
