Nova Scotia announced three new cases of COVID-19 today, Wednesday, August 11. Two of the new cases are in Nova Scotia Health’s Central Zone and one is in the Eastern Zone; all three are related to travel, and all three are men aged 20-39.
The vaccination status of new cases is announced on Fridays.
There are now 19 known active cases in the province. One person is in hospital with the disease, and that person is in ICU.
Vaccination
Yesterday, 3,151 doses of vaccine were administered; of those, 2,680 were second doses and 471 were first doses. So far, a total of 1,400,666 doses of vaccine have been administered, of which 654,766 were second doses. As of end of day yesterday, 76.8% of the entire population have received at least one dose of vaccine, and 67.4% has received two doses.
Of those eligible to be vaccinated (those 12 years old and older), 87.0% have received at least one dose, while 76.4% have received two doses. That’s a rough estimate on my part, using my best guestimate of population age cohorts.
By my very rough calculation, there about 70,000 people need to get their second before the province reaches the Phase 5 threshold of 75% of the entire population doubled-dosed; at current rates of vaccination, that won’t happen until early September. There is, however, enough vaccine in the province right now for all those 70,000 people to get vaccinated immediately; they just need to move their appointments up.

People 12 years old and older can also book a vaccination appointment here.
People in rural areas who need transportation to a vaccine clinic should contact Rural Rides, which will get you there and back home for just $5. You need to book the ride 24 hours ahead of time.

Testing
Nova Scotia Health labs completed3,072 PCR tests yesterday. This does not include the antigen testing administered at the pop-up testing sites.
You do not need a health card to get tested.
Pop-up testing (antigen testing) is for asymptomatic people over 16 who have not been to the potential COVID exposure sites (see map below); results usually within 20 minutes. Pop-up testing has been scheduled for the following sites:
